Atom Voyages: Great info by James Baldwin about off-shore sailing, repair, upgrade, and modification of the cruising sailboat. He twice circumnavigated in his Person Triton Atom. His travelogues are very well written and could easily be published as a book. There is a lot of great information on this site.
Pearson Triton 381: The best site I have seen on fiberglass sailboat restoration. Detail documentation of the total restoration of a Pearson Triton and its continued maintenance. If you are considering rebuilding all, or even a part, of your boat, you would be wise to read the info contained in this very complete and detailed website. I once read Tim Lacky's website refered to the "Holy Grail" of boat restoration sites.
Jacobson Woodworking: Details the on-going work to complete a bare hull Lyle Hess 34' Falmouth Cutter. Kaj Jackobsen's woodworking skills are impressive. I visit this site when I need motivation or just to keep the bar high for what quality joinery should look like. Very nice.
Stimpson Marine: I bought the plans for the bow-roof shed from Stimpson Marine. The best $20.00 I have spent so far.
Jamestown Distributors: I buy most of my supplies from Jamestown. They are helpful and fast and generally have everything I need. With the VIP pass you get free shipping for a year.
McMaster Carr: An amazing site with about every kind of material you can think of. I buy abrasive from McMasters. I also by bronze rod and flat bar stock from MC. They are terrific folks.
The Simple Sailor: Roger Taylor's site detailing his offshore voyages on his customized junk rigged, twin keel, Coribee 21. Mingming is a very neat looking boat. Roger sails single-handed. His focus is high latitude sailing. He competes in the "Jester Challenge" TRANSLANT ocean race for boats 20-30 feet. He is truly a keep-it-simple kind of sailor. His philosophy is well thought out. His writing is clear, tight, humorous, and edgy. Atlantic Veneer. AV has a mill outlet in Beaufort, NC not too far from where I live. I purchase all my marine grade plywood from them. They also carry a good supply of domestic hardwoods including ash, juniper, white oak, poplar, etc. They also carry teak. They are very friendly and helpful. World Timber. I by all my African Mahogany and Iroko from World Timber which is located in Hubert, NC. They have superb wood and are a very professional outfit. They do not carry domestic hardwood or plywood. Cruising with the Zartmans: We developed a friendship with the Zartmans after meeting them in a chance encounter in our small waterfront community. Ben, Danielle, and their three girls cruise on their 31' cutter Ganymede. They are one of the most interesting families we have met. Ben is near the top of the pyramid when it comes to keeping it simple. He is a heck of a sailor as well.
